Delegation of Authority

Under Section 85(1) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP Act), the president of the university may delegate any decision-making authority to another person, except the power to delegate.

A delegation order must be in writing and remains in effect until replaced.

The Order of Delegation identifies the position(s) authorized to act for the president, according to the Delegation Authority Table.

The authority is assigned to the position, not the person in the position. Therefore, a new person in the position does not need a new delegation order.

Anyone to whom authority has been delegated cannot re-delegate this authority.
