The act gives you the right to see the information that Athabasca University has about you and to request corrections to that information. Again, information may be withheld only if it falls under one of the limited or specific exceptions set out in the act.
The act complements other procedures for obtaining information at Athabasca University. It is intended to be used as a last resort and does not limit or replace existing procedures for access to information or records.
The act requires Athabasca University to publish a directory to assist you to identify and locate the records you wish to access, and requires the university to provide the information about the records in its custody or under its control for the directory.
The act also requires the university to make available for review and copying a directory that lists the personal information banks maintained by the university. A personal information bank is a collection of personal information that is organized or retrievable by the name of an individual, or by an identifying number, symbol or other method assigned to an individual.
